Emersione Elixir Falernum - II Edizione

Emergence Elixir Falernum - II Edition

Jul 19, 2024

A unique emotion was experienced on Thursday 18 July 2024, for the second edition of the emergence of the Elixir Falernum refined in the sea.

After 12 months, the crate containing 450 bottles of the liqueur was brought to the surface from the seabed of the ancient Roman city of Sinuessa.

For Elixir Falernum, which had already undergone underwater refinement in 2021, it was a second time. In fact, the first case of bottles placed on the seabed in the summer of 2021 was brought back to the surface the following year and in July 2023 a new case had been placed in refinement below sea level.

On the way to emergence

Before setting sail on the boats made available at the Nautica Senneca marina, all the guests were welcomed, during the first stage of the event, by a tasty breakfast offered by the Bar Domizia of Mondragone.

Once off the coast of Mondragone, near the remains of Sinuessa, STS Servizi Tecnici Subacquei took care of the safe emergence of the case. This concluded the second stage of the event, giving way to what can be defined as an experimental journey into the world of spirits.

Once at the Distillery, a brunch with the rich Casatiè Petrone casatiello, many other delicacies and a special Spritz Falernum, created for the occasion by the expert barman Domenico Barra, was prepared for the guests. at the most anticipated moment of the day, the preview tasting of the re-emerged liqueur.

This limited edition of Elixir Falernum will now be subjected to a research program coordinated by Salvatore Velotto, professor of food technology at the San Raffaele University of Rome, and carried out by the Department of Agriculture of the University of Naples Federico II. The study will scientifically evaluate the effects of sea aging on our liqueur.
