The origin of the name The name “GUAPPA”

recalls the widespread custom for the shepherds of the Campania countryside to give a name to each buffalo they raised, so much so that, according to the ancient rite, the “buffalo herder”, at the first light of dawn, called the buffaloes by name, one by one, to lead them to milking, and the call of the herd of buffaloes sounded just like a chant. In particular, tradition tells of a buffalo belonging to one of our master distillers, called “GUAPPA”, echoing the Spanish term “Wapa” or “Guapa”, or, “beautiful” precisely, since it was envied by everyone for the large quantity of milk it was able to produce; milk that on cold winter mornings was expertly mixed by the shepherds with brandy or with raw spirits to warm themselves.

Tasting Notes

Hazelnut in color and dense in appearance. Sweet aromas of cream, hazelnut and caramel on the nose and a pungent scent of buffalo milk. Enveloping and soft on the palate, creamy and velvety and with a perfect integration of the alcoholic note of the 3-year-old brandy, expertly combined with milk.

Our advice

Excellent dessert at the end of a meal, perfect neat or on the rocks, it will accompany the after-dinner with taste and pleasure. Excellent for sweetening coffee or for garnishing ice cream and desserts, it reveals a pleasant aftertaste, sweet and delicately alcoholic. Invigorating if served hot with cinnamon, cloves and an orange peel. It goes perfectly with combinations based on brandy and cream, for velvety cocktails; garnished with a sprinkling of dark chocolate and cinnamon.
