Elixir Falernum Immersion - II Edition

Jul 13, 2023

Exciting, it was exciting. Usually these terms are used for the first time but the tension, the wait, the emotion and then the day of the dive, a set of moods that made us live an exciting day.

On 7/07/2023, for the second time, Antica distilleria Petrone immersed the prized Elixir Falernum in the depths of the submerged Roman city of Sinuessa, off the coast of Mondragone (CE). The liqueur will age for a year under water and this represents the first experience ever in the spirits sector.

Watch the video of the event:

For Antica Distilleria Petrone it is the year of confirmation, after the results obtained from the first dive and validated by the Federico II University, this time we expect the definitive scientific officiality of the organoleptic changes that the product undergoes with underwater aging.

This second edition was characterized by a significant scenographic impact thanks to the collaboration with the Arma Aeronautica association, the crate containing 470 bottles of Elixir Falernum was collected by an Air Force helicopter and immersed in the same spot where the first cellar lay. Furthermore, the crate was equipped with detection and monitoring supports thanks to the technology provided by the benefit company Y Digital Firm .

In the past, Antica Distilleria Petrone was the hub of the territory and this deep bond continues today, in fact all the people present, media and guests, reached the point of the dive to enjoy the spectacular show thanks to the boats made available by private citizens of Mondragone who once again participate and support our large family.

Innovation has always been a fundamental value of our company and the experimentation of underwater aging is one of our most important projects, not only because we are the first but above all because it represents the testimony of the constant commitment we put into the production of fine liqueurs and the indissoluble bond with the territory, since 1858 our land in a glass.
